Clydesdale Outpost is a private working ranch. Visits with the Clydesdales are by reservation or scheduled appointment only to ensure the safety and privacy of our guests and horses.
Guests are always welcome to visit the Clydesdale Market at our Welcome Center.
Luxury House at Clydesdale Outpost
Far Forest River House is a private retreat at the edge of Clydesdale Outpost, where the Stillwater River winds through the forest and the wild beauty of Montana unfolds just beyond your windows.
Designed in a warm, mountain-modern style, the River House offers a more spacious and secluded way to experience our 92-acre guest ranch. Expansive windows frame the river, forest and unforgettable Montana sunsets, while thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces invite you to slow down, reconnect and stay awhile.
Inside, the home sleeps up to ten guests across three king bedrooms and a playful bunk room with a queen bed and three twins, complemented by three-and-a-half bathrooms. The heart of the home is made for gathering—around the fireplace, in the bonus room, over slow mornings at the coffee bar, or around the table after a day spent exploring Montana.
Outside, the experience unfolds along the river. Soak in the private hot tub beneath the stars, rinse off in the outdoor shower, gather around the fire, or simply listen to the cascading waterfall and take in the Stillwater River.
And just beyond it all are the Clydesdales.
Far Forest River House isn't simply a place to stay. It's a place to experience Montana differently—surrounded by horses, river, forest and sky, with the comforts of a remarkable home and the magic of Clydesdale Outpost just outside your door.
House & Property Guidelines
We’re so glad you’re considering a stay with us! As a small, family-run business, we prepare each cabin with care between guest stays. To ensure we have enough time for a thorough cleaning and reset:

Our check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. If you need an early check-in or late check-out, just let us know—we’re happy to accommodate when possible!

Families and children are always welcome, and we even have pet-friendly cabins available: Junegrass, Stillwater, and Gunsight. A pet fee will apply for furry companions.

For the comfort of all guests, smoking is not permitted anywhere indoors on the property.

Our ranch spans 92 acres of scenic land, which includes pasture trails and rustic terrain. Please note that due to the natural layout, it may not be ideal for guests with mobility challenges or those who are elderly or infirm.
Cancellation Policy & Deposit Information
We appreciate your reservation and want to make your booking experience as smooth as possible.

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. Please note that this deposit is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.

The remaining balance is due seven (7) days prior to arrival, and is collected via your card on file, once paid, it is also non-refundable.
We understand that plans can change and we are open to assisting with reservation modifications. If you need to adjust your reservation dates, up to 48 hours prior to arrival, our team will gladly assist in rescheduling your stay based on availability. Please note that rate differences may apply if your new dates fall into a different pricing tier.
