Discover Our Legacy
At Clydesdale Outpost, our story is rooted in legacy, landscape, and a deep reverence for the majestic Clydesdale horse. What began in Fernwald, Germany—a village whose name means “Far Forest”—has evolved into a transatlantic breeding tradition known as Far Forest Ranch. It was there, in 1995, that Benjamin Arnold and his father, Karl, first fell in love with draft horses, starting with Shires and eventually traveling across continents to bring home their first Clydesdales.
By 2009, their quiet passion had grown into an international endeavor, importing and raising champion bloodlines from North America. After marrying Matt in 2013, Benjamin moved to the U.S., where together they began restoring a century-old homestead in Amboy, Washington.
In 2015, they launched their official breeding and show program, continuing the lineage of their original mares and stallions.
In 2021, they sold their ranch and set their sights on something more ambitious—Clydesdale Outpost in Whitefish, Montana—an expanded vision where architecture, adventure, and equine beauty come together. Today, Benjamin and Matt proudly welcome guests into their world, where every Clydesdale is not only part of the landscape, but part of the legacy.
